  • Using the same photoshop/rayograph technique I played around with a few weeks ago I made some titles for the MFA 3 Bijou Screening set to take place Thursday May 17th, 2012 at CalArts.

  • Fellow CalArtian/Bardian Ian Samuel‘s new film Caterwaul, which I had the pleasure of making the titles for, now has a trailer online. The film recently screened at RedCat Theater in Los Angeles and will soon be burning it’s way through the festival circuit. Expect big things from this talented, puppet-mad man!

  • I had my thesis show, Juanita Who Is Loved, this past weekend and after months of planning, animating, and building I’m proud to present the images from show. In the next few days I’ll be posting images from the creation of the show, but after all these months focused on one project I’m ready to [...]

  • My new music video is officially on the web. Working again under the creative team Iron Fern with director Yelena Zhelezov’s and photographer Aleigh Lewis I edited and colored this fun music video for the band Derde Verde. Iron Fern gave me full artistic license on this one and I had a great time playing [...]

  • Director Yelena Zhelezov’s new music video, which I colored and composited, is out! The video, made for Julia Holter’s debut album Ekstasis, was created along with photographer and editor Aleigh Lewis under the Iron Fern logo. Julia’s album has been getting great reviews and the video is also getting really wonderful feedback. So 70s! So [...]

  • I recently finished my brand-new, runs-like-a-dream reel for 2012. Check it out!

  • Thanks to Boring Old Raphael’s Post featuring the above video, Cold Mailman’s “Time is of the Essence,” directed by André Chocron I’ve been stuck thinking about videos where the landscape syncs up to, or is influenced by the audio and camera work.

  • Unedited footage of 16mm footage. So after much labor I finally have the finished footage of my 16mm tinting. I’m actually quite pleased with the results – nearly a whole minute of footage for one weekend of concentrated effort. Animation hardly turns out numbers that good. While post will all take place digitally, I’ll be [...]

  • Here are some sneak peaks from Iron Fern’s soon-to-be-released music video for Derde Verde, which I edited and colored. The project was inspired by old 8mm footage along with the multiple frames of lomography so I had a lot of freedom when it came to playing with the footage.

  • This weekend I spent most of my film away from the computer which, given my last month push to finish my thesis, was something of a novelty. I was working on hand processing some hi-con film that I knew I wanted to eventually look something like The Serpentine Dance, however all my source material was [...]

  • Been reading up on Five Second Projects, a fun contest designed to give animators and motion graphic artists a theme around which to make quick, well-designed work. I’m really into artist challenges from my Film Duel to my old rounds of Photoshop Tennis with artist collaborator Ali Church. While the work that results from the [...]

  • CS5 for stress reduction. While working on my thesis I needed a bit of a break from the Brian-Eno-Constant-Editing Cave that I’ve turned my room into. So instead of exclusively rendering out shots for my film I threw in this quick little test. Fancy that! AE for stress relief.
